Database publishing is often used as an overall term in the field of automated and database-supported media production. This allows creative to highly automated print publications (e.g. price lists and catalogues) as well as office documents to be generated.
The basic idea is to automatically transfer database contents such as item numbers and price information, marketing text and images to an open layout document. Changes (e.g. to prices) are updated automatically. For this, the data must be appropriately structured, for example in a connected PIM system.
With the help of database publishing, multilingual catalogues can be generated with considerable cost savings. Database publishing is also the basis for customised or personalised brochures.
