proficl@ss

proficl@ss is a cross-industry and independent initiative founded in 2003 to classify product data from different industries in a unified classification system. The goal of proficl@ss is the electronic trade of products across industry boundaries (construction, building services and industrial supplies).
In proficl@ss, there is a separate set of classifying characteristics for each product. These include technical product data/characteristics such as length, width or type of steel used, but also images, short and long texts. Product information can be transferred without layout and imported into the respective database by the data recipient.
In addition to the classifications ECl@ss, ETIM and UNSPSC, proficl@ss is another classification that companies have to deal with if they want to sell or buy their products electronically outside their own industry.
